Active Faith
Not blind faith, not religious faith, not as an empty belief—but as a conviction and trust in the universal love.
This is by far the most empowering chosen stance and co-creative power that my husband and I have found ourselves in when things are challenging.
To put out the effort with no end goal or relief in sight, can be both daunting and seem dumb. But by putting one step in front of the other and fine tuning our mind and body to the degree where we’re noticing synchronicities, has been a game changer when it comes to alignment and a sense of spending our days in a purposeful way.
If life is happening for us, rather than to us—which is another perspective and stance that we’ve actively chosen to take—the way we show up and respond to life makes all the difference. We have a code word, a mantra of sorts, that we say to each other when we need to uplift our spirits in the face of difficulties, reminding ourselves to participate in the unfolding of life with active faith.
On the practical level this looks like making the most of our waking hours, but equally so, holding a vision without expectations on how to get there—leaving room for life itself to surprise us.
How we show up mentally, emotionally, practically makes all the difference. This is sometimes a hard pill to swallow. But if you truly drill down on it; no one owes you anything, including life. We’ve got to participate, co-create, and hold space for magic to happen.
Response-ability is a practice, a mindset and a mantra—one that can propel you or stall you. So with active faith in mind, we are given an opportunity to co-create the life we wish to live.
This conviction that I speak of, is based on a deeply rooted trust that we have been supported thus far by life itself, and that whatever is to unfold is equally so for the highest good of all. To think that the universe (or whatever you want to call it) has our backs is not a mere blind faith, but something I think most of us have experienced. If we find ourselves doubting that, I invite you to take a deep look at how you may be out of alignment with your own core values and readjust the course you’re on. It’s up to you to course correct, apply the active faith in the sense of actions and mindsets to keep showing up to the best of your ability. You owe that to life. You owe that to yourself and those around you.
So, break it down to bite size pieces; what can you do in this moment to show that you are worthy, willing, open, receptive, committed and excited. What can you do to take the necessary steps? It all becomes a question of how committed you are to showing up to your own life. Give yourself this gift.
This is about battling the unknown with a conviction that you are cared for. And at the end of the day when your head hits the pillow, you know that you’ve done what you can to steward your time and energy in constructive ways. Remember, it’s a choice.
May you revel in the pure joy of being.
With love,
Hansa
